Fastly’s Technical Operations (TechOps) team is responsible for building & operating the infrastructure that powers the Fastly Edge Cloud Platform. We oversee an extensive global network that spans 6 continents with 377 Tbps of connected capacity. Our platform serves a significant portion of the content delivered to internet consumers across the planet, with customers ranging from online media streaming services to e-commerce, to open source projects, nonprofits and more.
As a SIte Reliability Engineer in Fastly’s TechOps organization, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of Fastly Infrastructure.
What You’ll Do:

Produce new automation and tooling. Evolve existing systems to reduce manual toil across the Fastly fleet
Proactively improve monitoring and alerting. Ensure focus and that the right metrics are monitored to maintain optimal performance and customer stability
Be an advocate for the stability of the platform and our customers. Work collaboratively across engineering teams in pursuit of this goal
Focus on continuous improvement. Learn from operational challenges and incorporate them into forward looking plans
Solve large scale problems and optimize everything. Look for opportunities to make our systems more efficient and tune our stack for speed

What We’re Looking For: 

Deep knowledge of Linux/Unix systems
Software development proficiency in a language such as Go or Python
Experience working in on-prem or cloud environments. Comprehensive knowledge of systems throughout their lifecycle, from design and provisioning to operations
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals
Proven experience with large-scale, highly available platforms, or a demonstrated ability to operate effectively at scale

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these: 

Familiarity with BGP routing protocol or Linux network stack
Experience with kubernetes or other container orchestration

Work Hours:

This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

Work Locations & Travel Requirements: 
This position is open to both hybrid and remote work locations within the US.
The preferred hybrid locations for this position are:

San Francisco, CA
New York, NY
Denver, CO

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home. We are willing to consider remote candidates in the US. 
This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary:
The estimated salary range for this position is $167,790 to $201,348.
Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
