Job Purpose:
Under the Bhutan country strategic plan 2024–2028, WFP seeks to strengthen and support the Government’s efforts to deliver equitable and inclusive economic growth and advance human capital development. The role focuses on a food system and resilience approach, supporting Bhutan in enhancing food security and nutrition, and building sustainable and economically viable food systems.
Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive):
- Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities within food systems and resilience.
- Support project management for the “Building Resilient Commercial Smallholder Agriculture” (BRECSA) project and other related programmes.
- Prepare reports and data analysis related to food systems and resilience, ensuring adherence to corporate standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely recording of data within food systems and resilience, and ensure consistency of information.
- Liaise with internal and external counterparts to support effective collaboration and implementation of project activities.
- Coordinate with government counterparts, local partners, agencies, and civil society to analyze programmes and ensure efficient delivery of WFP technical assistance.
- Support capacity strengthening of WFP staff, partners, and government within food systems and resilience.
- Act as a point of contact for operational queries and problems within food systems and resilience.
- Collaborate with support staff to deliver objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
- Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure quick response in crisis situations.
- Perform other duties as required.
Specific Job Requirements:
- Review budget plans, monitor project financial performance, and make recommendations in compliance with WFP financial policies.
- Maintain communication with stakeholders regarding project funds management matters and related processes.
- Enter project budget plans and revisions in corporate systems to ensure timely and accurate data capture.
Standard Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a relevant area such as agriculture, nutrition, food security, project management, or related field.
Experience: Six or more years of progressively responsible work experience in a related functional area.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Good knowledge and skills in implementing and managing technical programmes.
- Experience working with diverse development stakeholders.
- Skills in capacity strengthening of farmer groups and cooperatives.
- Experience in procurement and budgeting processes.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to build relationships and coordinate work effectively.
Languages: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English (Level C) and Dzongkha.
