Tashi InfoComm
Tashi InfoComm Private Limited stands as the second cellular company in Bhutan, operating autonomously under the esteemed Tashi Group of Companies. Its inception dates back to January 23, 2007, following its incorporation under the Companies Act of Bhutan 2016. Emerging triumphant in an international bid, Tashi InfoComm secured the privilege to function as Bhutan's second cellular operator.
Subsequently, on November 27, 2023, Tashi InfoComm Limited underwent re-registration as Tashi InfoComm Private Limited, pursuant to the grant of Certificate of Re-Registration by the Office of the Registrar of Companies, Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Employment.
Endowed with a cellular license from the Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority (BICMA), TashiCell embarked on a mission to establish a robust mobile network, extending cellular services across the nation. Employing GSM WCDMA/HSPA+ technologies, the company debuted its GSM services on April 6, 2008, christened under the brand name "TashiCell," with its registered office nestled in Norzin Lam, Thimphu.
TashiCell's journey of technological advancement unfolded with the achievement of nationwide mobile coverage with 2G in August 2012, followed by the pioneering feat of nationwide 3G coverage in June 2015. By early 2016, TashiCell introduced 4G services in the western regions of Bhutan, culminating in nationwide 4G coverage across all 20 Dzongkhags Headquarter by December 2018, with Gasa HQ marking the culmination.
Breaking new ground in December 2021, TashiCell became the first operator in Bhutan to commercially launch 5G services in Thimphu, Paro, and Phuentsholing Thromdes. The roadmap ahead involves extending the 5G services to the remaining Dzongkhag headquarters in the second quarter of 2022, followed by deployment at Gyalsung sites and satellite towns before the year's end.
As of November 2021, TashiCell boasts an impressive subscriber base of 350,000 mobile users, solidifying its position as a leading force in Bhutan's telecommunications landscape.
