Job Purpose:
The World Food Programme (WFP) in Bhutan seeks a Finance Officer to support the stewardship of WFP’s resources, monitoring budgets, forecasting, reporting on key data, and providing administrative and human resource functions. The role also supports budget and resource analysis and programming activities, ensuring efficient, effective, and compliant utilization of funds.
Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive):
Finance:
- Maintain awareness of corporate finance strategies and initiatives, participating where appropriate.
- Contribute to country-specific plans aligned with WFP strategy and policies.
- Report on financial status and project outcomes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Perform bank reconciliations, cash management, and financial closures.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making.
- Contribute to financial controls and risk assessments.
Budget and Programming:
- Monitor budgets and forecasting for projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop detailed budget plans.
- Monitor resource pipeline and provide recommendations.
- Contribute to internal process improvement and capacity building.
Other Responsibilities:
- Deliver core administrative and human resource services.
- Represent unit/CO at meetings with partners and stakeholders.
- Supervise and guide junior staff members.
Standard Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Advanced University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related fields. OR
- First University degree with additional years of related work experience plus membership in an international recognized professional accountancy body.
Experience:
- At least 1 year of professional experience post-master’s degree.
Language:
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Dzongkha.
